India comes into view as the 2nd largest source country for Canadian PR
While Canada is known for a good population of immigrants, the estimates show that about 38,000 immigrants which constitute about 15% of the entire immigration population hold a Canadian PR from India. This fact makes India emerge as the 2nd large source country for Canadian PR, the first being Philippines. As of the latest reports, Canada has received an increased number of PR applications from India. Canada aims to bring in about 20, 000 immigrants into the country this year. For the same reason, the Canadian government is planning to minimize the time frame for qualifying for a Citizenship from residency from 4-6 years to 3-5 years.
Currently, about 1.25 million Indians reside in Canada and 19 Indo-Canadians were elected to the Canadian Parliament in the previous year's general election.
