Over 1,23,000 foreign workers required in the Australian Tourism sector- Australian Tourism Labour Force Report 2015-2020
The Australian Trade and Investment Commission has released and Australian Tourism Labour Force Report 2015-2020. This report estimates that the Australian Tourism sector will require over 1, 23,000 foreign workers to cater the increasing international visitors from India and China. The report predict that the hospitality sector too is facing a shortage of skilled workforce. Three major states of Australia- New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria require over 39,000 workers from foreign countries to fill in the skills gap of the Hospitality and Leisure industries. This increasing demand in Australia is pushing the employers of the Hospitality and Leisure industry to recruit foreign workers and retain them in Australia for a longer period of time. The estimations also suggest that the Tourism sector must find new ways to attract workers it is industries instead of completely depending upon the workers within the same country.
