Two separate PNP draws were held on 16 February 2021. A total of 459 ITAs were sent to Skilled Immigration (SI) and Express Entry (EEBC) candidates of the BC PNP program.

These invitations were issued to candidates in the International Graduate and Skilled Worker categories and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled subcategories.

Minimum Scores

Minimum scores for this BC PNP draw ranged between 85 to 104 points. Additionally, 35 invitations were issued to candidates working as retail and wholesale trade managers and restaurant and foodservice managers.

The province conducted this draw since both occupations have a good number of registrants within the BC PNP.

B.C. Tourism & Hospitality Industry

The British Columbia province announced that it would be inviting candidates from the tourism and hospitality industry as well. Including the retail and personal services industry that have been not included in the recent draws.

The British Columbia province has held nine draws so far and brought in a total number of 1,308 candidates to the province in 2021.

The BC PNP Stream

The British Columbia provincial nominee stream aims to attract skilled workers in high demand within the province.

It has two immigration streams, namely the skilled immigration and Express Entry-aligned that are divided into subcategories. Both these streams are managed under SIRS (Skilled Immigration Registration Stream).

All candidates applying for BC PNP are required to register with SIRS. They will then be assigned a score based on their age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Highest scoring candidates are then invited to apply for provincial nomination. They can apply for permanent residency when B.C. conducts regular draws.

Selected candidates have 30 days to submit their application through the BC PNP online system, once they receive an invitation.

The provincial nomination process is valid for about six months from the date of confirmation.

The Express Entry-Aligned BC PNP Stream

It is known as EEBC in short. It connects the federal Express Entry immigration application management system to British Columbia province.

All candidates are allotted points based on human capital factors like age, education, and English or French language proficiency under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Candidates are also required to meet the minimum criteria for any one of the following three )immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada) IRCC’s Express Entry programs

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

All provincial nominees obtain additional 600 points under the CRS score in Express Entry. It is enough to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) during the coming Express Entry draw.

Express Entry draws are regularly held despite current border restrictions. IRCC had an Express Entry draw last Saturday an invited a record number of 27,332 candidates in one day.
