The Canadian province of British Columbia recently invited 90 skilled tech professionals to apply for provincial nomination through the Tech Pilot Draw.

Invited Candidates

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Tech Pilot Draw issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to immigration candidates under the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams.

Under these streams, candidates from the Skilled Worker subcategory and International Graduate subcategory needed a minimum provincial score of 80 points.

Minimum Score

SI – Skilled Worker

Total: 90

SI – International Graduate

EEBC – Skilled Worker

EEBC – International Graduate

The province has so far invited 3,531 candidates in 2021 through PNP draws. The candidates who have ITAs in this draw have 30 days to apply for a nomination.

Tech Pilot Draw

The Tech Pilot Draw of BC PNP is a fast-track program for skilled tech workers and international graduates.

To be eligible for this, the candidates need to register in one of the province’s immigration streams and have an employment offer that is valid for at least 12 months in an in-demand occupation.

To apply for either the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC streams, the candidates must create a profile on the BC PNP portal and register themselves under the Skilled Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

The Tech Pilot Draw was launched in May 2017 after a study of the province’s labour market found that the biggest issue facing British Columbia’s tech industry was the access to skilled talent.
