Canada Express Entry: 7,000 Invitations Issued by IRCC

Published on : February 2, 2024

Canada sends out Express Entry invitations with a focus on candidates with French ability.

On February 1, 2024, Canada invited another batch of Canadian immigration hopefuls. The latest round of invitations by Canada were held under the Express Entry system. 7,000 invitations to apply were issued. Those invited had to have French language proficiency. The minimum score requirement was that of CRS 365.

Those invited in the latest EE draw were -

  • Eligible for any Express Entry program (CEC, FSWP, or FSTP),
  • With a ranking score of at least 365 on the Comprehensive Ranking System,
  • With a proficiency in French language, and
  • Their profile created before September 08, 2023 at 09:47:27 UTC.

The French language proficiency invitations come under the category-based selection criteria introduced in 2023.

To be considered for a Canadian Express Entry category-based selection, you will have to meet the specific requirements. As of now, the categories selected by the Canadian Government are -

  1. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) occupations,
  2. French-language proficiency,
  3. Healthcare occupations,
  4. Agriculture and agri-food occupations,
  5. Transport occupations
  6. Trade occupations

The latest Express Entry Draw number 282 held on February 1, 2024, is the first category-based draw to be held so far this year. This is the fourth round of invitations in 2024. The other three Express Entry invitation rounds were general draws.

Altogether 10,280 ITAs have been sent out in the 4 Express Entry draws. The minimum score requirement has ranged from the highest CRS 546 to the lowest of CRS 365 in the latest EE draw.

With a low score threshold, there are more chances of your profile being picked up under category-based selection as compared to a general draw. If you fall under any of the categories, there is a higher probability of being issued an invitation. You will require an invitation to apply before you can submit your complete Canadian permanent residence application. Invitations to apply are sent out by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada).
