Canada invites 500 French speaking Candidates in Express Entry Draw

Canada continues to welcome skilled individuals proficient in French Language.

Latest Express Entry draw, September 27

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has just announced a fresh round of Invitations to Apply (ITA).

Just a day before, another draw took place, inviting 3,000 candidates. This was an all program draw where candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 504. In such draws, candidates from all three Express Entry-managed programs are invited.

Prioritizing French Language speaking candidates

Earlier this year IRCC introduced a category-based draw, which is a significant shift from the traditional overall CRS score approach. Similarly, the latest Express Entry round is distinctive as it targets 500 candidates with a strong command of the French language. The minimum score requirement to receive an ITA was CRS 472.

Why Category-Based Express Entry Draws?

Canada has introduced category-based draws to select candidates who align with Canada’s goals of economic growth and French language promotion outside of Quebec. The change stemmed from a 2022 amendment to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), granting the immigration minister authority to select Express Entry candidates that can help with Canada’s language and developmental goals.

To achieve these objectives, six new categories were established, focusing on high-demand occupations and individuals with proficiency in French language. Categories include:

  • Healthcare
  • STEM professions
  • Trades
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food

To date, the largest number of category based ITAs (6,900) have been issued to French-speaking candidates.

Those aspiring to immigrate through category-based selection must be part of the Express Entry pool and meet a specified minimum CRS score. We can offer insights and professional guidance- reach out to us to learn more.

Understanding Express Entry

Express entry is a system designed for managing applications of candidates who wish to immigrate to Canada through various immigration programs. These programs include:

These programs use a tool called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank applicants. The ranking depends on several key factors such as:

  • Work experience
  • Occupation
  • Education
  • Age
  • Language Proficiency
Each factor has a specific point value. Candidates with a good CRS score are more likely to get an Invitation to Apply for Canadian immigration in the upcoming Express Entry Draw.
