Canada Invites 6,000 Immigration Candidates in Latest CEC Draw

On Thursday, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 6,000 immigration candidates to apply for permanent residency (PR) through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) immigration stream.

Requirement for Invitation

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score set for this draw was 375 points. This is the second-lowest CRS score requirement for a CEC-only draw after the historic February 13 draw.

The February 13 draw had invited a massive 27,332 immigration candidates and set the lowest-ever CRS score requirement of just 75 points.

Candidates applying for the CEC stream must have had a minimum of one year experience in a skilled occupation, be competent in English or French, and score above the CRS cut-off to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

All-Program Draws

Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic started, the IRCC has only held CEC and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws.

This is because the candidates qualifying for these streams are more likely to be living in Canada currently.

Until June 21, approved PR-holders were unable to travel to the country to activate their status. While Canada has relaxed some travel restrictions, non-essential travel is still not allowed, and the travel ban from India has been extended for one month.

The IRCC has still not expressed when it will hold an all-program  Express Entry draw and is yet to consider candidates under the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP).

ITAs Issued in 2021

The Canadian government has announced that it will invite a record-breaking number of immigrants to the country. This year alone, the programs under the Express Entry System are supposed to bring over 108,000 new immigrants.

It has already issued 88,715 ITAS to qualifying candidates, almost double the ITAs sent by this time last year.
