New Zealand Restarts Working Holiday Visa

Published on : April 29, 2021

It came as a sign of relief when New Zealand decided to restart the working visa program. The decision was welcomed by tourism employers, who would now have access to a cohort of offshore workers.

New Zealand's decision of lifting the suspension of Working Holiday Visas will help the applicants working in Australia. This program was suspended last year by Immigration New Zealand(INZ) because of the pandemic.

However, applicants from countries like Norway, UK, the USA, Sweden, France, Belgium, Japan, Ireland, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, and Canada- are now allowed to apply for the program, in case they wish to settle in New Zealand from Australia.

Impact of The Decision

The decision for restarting the working visa program was welcomed by employers, who would now have access to skillful workers for helping them to scale up the business operations.

Employers have been reporting staff shortages in areas severely hit by the pandemic. Such places include cities like Queenstown and Te Anan in particular.

One of the temporary workers quoted," This seems a piece of great news for the hospitality and tourism business as they were struggling for additional staff."
