The province of Alberta recently invited a total of 300 Express Entry candidates to apply for provincial nomination under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) in a draw held on March 26.

Eligibility Criteria

To be invited by the AINP, the candidates had to have their profiles in the federal Express Entry System

Also, they had to meet the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of just 301 points.

This is the sixth draw held by AINP in 2021, making the total number of Express Entry candidates receiving NOIs to 1009.

Express Entry System

Express Entry is a federal system used by the Canadian government to manage immigration applications.

It manages applicants for Canada’s three main immigration streams - Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates who create a profile on Express Entry are given a score based on their age, education, work experience, language proficiency and more factors.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

AINP’s Express Entry stream, an enhanced form of PNP, is a pathway for eligible candidates who either have strong ties to the province or can assist its economic development.

The candidates also had to have work experience in an eligible occupation to receive the Notification of Interest (NOI).

While the AINP does not provide details on which occupations are eligible, it gives a list of ineligible occupations for the current draw.
