Canada holds the second round of Express Entry invitations in 2024. A total of 2,550 invitations have been issued this month so far.
On January 23, 2024, the Canadian Government held another round of invitations under the Express Entry system. The latest draw is Express Entry Draw number 280. A total of 1,040 got invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence. The minimum ranking score required was CRS 543. Tie-breaking rule of January 21, 2024 at 07:43:47 UTC applied.
Express Entry draws are held by the federal government of Canada through IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). The selection criteria varies from draw to draw. The latest Express Entry draw was a general draw.
The highest ranked profiles - based on the specific draw criteria - receive invitations in EE draw. The ranking in the pool of candidates is based on the Comprehensive Ranking System. The 67-point Express Entry eligibility is different from the 1,200-point CRS ranking.

Express Entry is used by Canada to accept, prioritize and process permanent residence applications from skilled foreign workers. There are 3 programs under Express Entry. Some immigration routes under the Provincial Nominee Program are also linked with Express Entry. Top PNPs are - Ontario PNP, Saskatchewan PNP, and Manitoba PNP.
485,000 PR visas will be granted by Canada in 2024. Another 5 lakh PR visas have been allotted for 2025, with another 5 lakh in 2026. The 2024-2026 Immigration Levels Plan was released on November 1, 2023.
110,770 will get their Canada PR visas through the Express Entry system in 2024. Another 110,000 will be granted permanent residency under Canada’s PNP which has a provincial nomination as the first step of the process. There are many other routes for Canadian immigration.
Additionally, Quebec will grant an estimated 37,990 PR visas in 2024. Quebec is not a part of PNP.
The latest Express Entry draws come after a busy last month. In December 2023, there were a total 7 draws held, with 15,045 ITAs (invitations to apply) in total. Of these, only 2 were general draws. The rest were held under Express Entry category-based selection.
