Canada Express Entry: 4,800 Get Invitations to Apply

Published on : May 25, 2023

IRCC has invited 4800 candidates under the latest Express Entry draw held on May 24, 2023. This is the second round of invitations to be held this month. The lowest required score cut-off was that of CRS 488.

Deserving candidates from any of the three Express Entry programs with a CRS score of 488 or above are eligible to apply.

Canada is facing an acute labor market shortage. Canadian immigration is regarded as holding a solution to the problem. Canada’s Express Entry system offers a relief from both ends - supply of the desired candidate, and fulfillment of the candidate's desire to settle down in Canada permanently.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is the program under which a candidate can apply for a permanent Canada visa based on the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score. The draw runs on a pool-based system in which a ranking based on the CRS score is followed. There are specific standards to obtain a CRS score as per the IRCC guidelines.

Factors that influence the CRS score include, among others:

  • The candidate's educational qualifications
  • Working experience in Canada
  • Language proficiency

Based on various factors such as the above-mentioned, the candidate's CRS score is determined. An Express Entry candidate can submit their application for Canadian permanent residence after they receive an ITA from IRCC. Express Entry draws are designed in such a way that it can accelerate the process, and within the schedule, the deserving candidate can land in Canada.

What programs come under Express Entry?

Canada's economic immigration includes 3 main economic programs, applications for which are handled through the Express Entry system. An applicant’s eligibility and potential to live and work in Canada is assessed. Express Entry programs are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Candidates are evaluated through the Comprehensive Ranking System, which provides a score based on the candidate's educational background, working experience, occupation, and age. These are the primary requirements for a high CRS, which will provide additional benefits to an applicant when he/she applies for the Canada PR for permanent settlement.

Later this year, IRCC will be changing the selection criteria for Express Entry draws. The proposed changes will affect their eligibility. Going ahead, the selection of candidates will not merely depend on a high CRS score.

Express Entry draws are organized to manage the balance between labor and demands.

Those who received an ITA in the latest Express Entry draw will now have 60 days for submitting their complete application to get a Canada PR visa under Express Entry.

Express Entry is the most popular Canadian immigration pathway. There are many other ways available to settle in Canada with your family.
