Canada Express Entry: Latest Draw has 545 ITAs Issued

Canada holds another Express Entry draw, the 10th round of invitations to be held in 2022 so far.

On May 11, 2022, a total of 545 invitations - also referred to as “invitations to apply” or ITAs - were issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. An online application management system launched in 2015, Express Entry is used by Canada for managing Canada PR applications from skilled foreign workers.

The highest-ranked candidates - as per 1,200-point Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) - are invited in the IRCC draws that take place from from time to time. As a nomination by a provincial and territorial government under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is worth 600 CRS points in itself, a PNP nomination guarantees an ITA by IRCC in a draw held subsequently.

In the latest IRCC draw, a tie-break rule of December 15, 2021 at 20:32:57 UTC was applied. The tie-break rule is applicable only to those with the minimum required CRS cut-off. As per IRCC, “If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles”.

Candidates that received invitations in Express Entry draw #222 on May 11, 2022 were those with -

• A ranking score of CRS 753 and above,
• A nomination under Canadian PNP, and
• Their Canada EE profile created before the tie-break applied.

With the latest round of Express Entry invitations, a total of 8,631 have been asked to submit their application for Canadian permanent residence in 2022.

431,645 permanent residence visas are to be granted by Canada in 2022. The Express Entry admissions target for 2022 is 55,900. Another 83,500 will get their Canada PR in 2022 through the Provincial Nominee Program of Canada.

So far in 2022, only PNP nominees have been invited by IRCC. All program Express Entry draws are to be resumed in July 2022.
