Canada Invites 5,900 STEM Candidates under Express Entry

Published on : December 9, 2023

Third round of invitations to be held in three days. A total of 11, 650 invitations issued this week.

Canada has invited another 5,900 candidates under the Express Entry system. Those who receive invitations to apply can go ahead and submit their applications for permanent residence.

Express Entry Draw #274 was held on December 8, 2023. With the latest EE draw, 10,000+ invitations have been issued in three days. This follows on the long pause previously. Before the three consecutive rounds of invitations, Canada had issued invitations at the end of October. No invitations went out in the month of November this year.

The latest Express Entry draw had invitations exclusively for those with experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) occupations. The minimum score required was that of CRS 481.

Express Entry draws are held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Priority is given to those who create their profiles earlier over those who enter the pool of candidates at a later date. A tie-breaking rule of November 25, 2023 at 09:48:36 UTC was applied.

Who was invited in the latest Express Entry draw held on December 8, 2023?

Invitations were issued to those who -

  1. Were eligible for any one of the three Express Entry programs,
  2. Had experience in any of the STEM occupations,
  3. Had a minimum score of CRS 481, and
  4. Had created their profile before the tie-break applied by IRCC.

STEM-only Express Entry draws are held by IRCC under category-based selection introduced in May 2023. With the latest round, 14 category-based draws have been held so far. This is the second STEM draw of the year. Previously, 500 invitations were issued to STEM occupations in EE Draw #254 held on July 5, 2023.
