- Invitations Issued
- Express Entry Draws
On Wednesday, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited a total of 627 candidates in the latest Express Entry draw with a low CRS cut-off score of 760 points.
The Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were sent to candidates under the Express Entry pool who had received a nomination through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 760 points.
While the CRS score requirement can seem very high, it must be kept in mind that having a PNP nomination automatically adds 600 points to their score. Therefore, they must have had just 160 points before receiving the nomination.
The IRCC also released the exact cut-off time to decide on any tie-break as per the administrative requirement. Candidates with the minimum score were only issued an ITA if they had filed their Express Entry profile before June 14, 2021, at 07:44:05 UTC.
Express Entry Draws
Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic started last year, the IRCC has only been conducting draws for PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates.
This is because most of the candidates under CEC and PNP are already living in Canada and are less likely to be stopped by measures like travel restrictions.
In recent PNP-only draws, a large number of candidates have been invited. This was the highest on June 23, where the IRCC invited 1,000 candidates. The highest draw before that invited 940 candidates.
These large draws are in line with Canada’s three-year plan which aims to invite a whopping 1.2 million candidates by year-end 2021. Canada has invited a total of 89,342 Express Entry candidates this year under the CEC and PNP draws.
