Express Entry: Huge CEC Draw With Low CRS Cut Off

Published on : June 11, 2021

Key Highlights:

  • Latest CEC Draw
  • IRCC Keeping Draws Focused In Canada Despite Talk of Easing of Travel Restrictions

The downward trend of the CRS requirement remains, with the score hitting this time close to 368.

Canada had invited more than 6000 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residency on June 10. Immigration Refugees And Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited applicants with a score of at least 368.

The new draw is targeting to invite applicants who are eligible under the Canadian Experience Class(CEC). Candidates also need to have at least proficiency in any of the languages French or English.

As per the administrative requirements, IRCC tends to publish the cut-off time owing to the tie break rule, whether there exists a tie or not. In the recent draw, only the candidates who had the minimum score were invited in case they had submitted their Express Entry Profile before April 28, 2021, at 05:45:14 UTC.

The earlier CEC draw only required candidates to have a score of 380. At the time, it was the lowest for a CEC-only draw since the record-breaking draws on February 13. CEC applicants having a score of as low as 75 got invitations in that draw.

IRCC Keeping Draws Focused In Canada Despite Talk of Easing of Travel Restrictions

Canada has been prioritizing applicants who are likely to settle in the country, since the start of the year. With the travel restrictions because of COVID-19, candidates who were approved overseas after March 18, 2020, will not be able to travel completely for their permanent residency.

Also, the Canadian government has not announced a particular date of reopening the borders for international travel. A 14-day quarantine is mandatory for travelers along with full vaccination.

PNP along with Canadian Experience Class applicants are large in numbers who apply for permanent residency. This is because PNPs require work experience as criteria from the nominating province while CC candidates need to have at least 1 year of Canadian Work Experience. PNPs have higher score requirements close to 600, while CEC draws have lower score cutoffs.
