2025 Update: 17,860 Invitations as Intake to Open for Parents and Grandparents Program

Canada has officially announced the intake reopening for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) 2025, offering families an opportunity to reunite with their loved ones through Canada PR sponsorship. As per the July 16, 2025 update from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), a total of 17,860 complete applications will be accepted from existing pools of potential sponsors.

What’s New in the 2025 PGP Intake?

The Intake to open for Parents and Grandparents Program will follow a structured process based on expressions of interest submitted in 2020. This means:

• IRCC will send 17,860 invitations to potential sponsors from the 2020 pool.
• The goal is to receive 10,000 complete applications.
• Invitations will be sent between August 20 and 22, 2025.

If you submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020 and didn’t receive an invitation previously, this might be your chance.
