Alberta First Draw 2021

This, in fact, is the first draw for Alberta province since June 2020. It was held on 8 January 2021, and the results have been released recently.

Eligible candidates with valid Express Entry profiles were invited to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.

The AINP (Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program) issued 50 invitations to eligible applicants through the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

  • A minimum CRS score of 406 points was the requirement.

Nova Scotia First Draw 2021

The Novia Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) sent invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to Express Entry candidates through the province’s Labour Market Priorities Stream.

Letters of Interest were issued to Express Entry pool candidates having the following qualifications.

  • The primary occupation of financial officer - NOC 1114
  • Four years of skilled work experience relating to the job
  • A CLB score of 9 or higher in English language abilities
  • Canadian bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Or a program of 3 or more years at an educational institution

The NSNP, however, did not disclose the number of invitations that were issued in the 19 January 2021 draw.

Applicants who have received the offer have time until 18 February 2021 to submit their applications.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry-aligned PNP provides a list of occupations that are not considered. Other eligible occupations support the province’s economic development and diversification.

Candidates in Express Entry AINP are ranked according to their CRS score. All the candidates who were invited will be awarded an additional 600 CRS points in their Express Entry profile. It will ensure that they will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next Express Entry draw.

The Year Ahead

Canada is poised to welcome over 401,000 new immigrants this year. Both the Express Entry and PNPs have opened up with a bang. Time will unfold, and let us know how Canada will fulfill its target in 2021.

At the moment, both Alberta and Nova Scotia have not disclosed the number of nominations they would be issuing through AINP and NSNP this year.
