On Thursday, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) invited 156 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

Invitation to Apply

Out of the 156 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued, 140 invitations were sent to candidates under the Express Entry & Labour Impact categories, and 16 went to those under the Business Impact category.

The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) enable the Canadian territories and provinces to choose immigration candidates who fit their labour markets' needs.

The immigration to Prince Edward Island (shortened to PEI) had decreased significantly due to the travel restrictions set in place after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Business Impact Category

The 16 immigration candidates issued ITAs under the Business Impact category had applied for the Work Permit Stream.

It is an immigration pathway dedicated to foreign entrepreneurs seeking to establish and run a business in the province.

The invited candidates under this category had to have a minimum score of 75 points.

Labour Impact Category

This category is for skilled workers, critical workers, and international graduates who have an employment offer in Prince Edward Island or have their employer's support.

The Prince Edward Island's official website did not provide any details on how many ITAs were explicitly issued for Labour Impact Category or the minimum cut-off score.

Express Entry Category

The Express Entry category is an enhanced form of the Provincial Nominee Program linked to Canada's federal Express Entry System.

After receiving a provincial nomination, candidates receive additional 600 points to their CRS score, guaranteeing them an ITA for permanent residence in a subsequent federal draw.
