-         Other Updates

According to a recent press release by the US Consulate Post in Mumbai, the Consulate General in Mumbai will provide only the essential services to Americans and limited visa services effective immediately.

This is due to the rising rates of Covid-19 patients and their visitors and staff's safety.

Effect on Applications

In accordance with the update, the consulate will cancel several scheduled visa interviews. The consulate is currently notifying applicants regarding the cancellations by email.

If any applicants have not received an email for this, they must visit the consulate at the scheduled time.

Other Consulates

The appointments at the US Embassy in New Delhi and the consular offices in Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai are currently unaffected.

The Embassy and other consular offices continue to conduct a limited number of visa appointments. The appointments will be added according to availability, but the appointment slots are expected to be filled shortly.

Other Updates

Negative Covid-19 Report Required for Travel: With effect from January 26, the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) mandates all arriving passengers in the US to present a negative Covid-19 report.

Employment-based Visa Appointments: The Presidential Proclamation 10052, which temporarily suspended the H-1B, L and J workers, has expired on March 31.

Therefore, the Embassy and Consulates are conducting a small number of visa appointments, including for those visas that were previously suspended.

Extension of Visa Fees Validity:

As many applicants have already paid the visa application fee and are waiting for an appointment, the US Mission will extend the validity of their payment to September 22, 2022.
