Requirements To Admit To Undergraduate Program

Qualifications For General Admittance

Higher Education Applicants from British Columbia are expected to have earned the equivalent of a BC high school diploma (or Grade 12 diploma) with a minimum grade point average of C.

Graduating high school students who did not get passing grades may still be considered for admission, provided they have earned at least 30 post-secondary credits from an accredited institution.

Extraordinary Investigations

Candidates who have not fulfilled the academic criteria for entry into the undergraduate degree, such as having the equivalent of a Canadian High School (Grade 12) diploma, may be allowed into the program under certain circumstances. These hopefuls must:

The applicant must: 

  • Have reached the age of twenty-one (21) on or before the first day of class
  • Be at least two years removed from high school

Suppose an applicant does not have a high school diploma but has significant job experience or a mix of education and experience that shows they will be successful in their program of study. In that case, the Admissions Committee will consider it.

International Students Must Meet Additional Requirements to Enroll  Applicants who earned their secondary education or further education credentials outside of Canada must also.

  • Proof that they graduated high school if it still needs to be shown on their records.
  • Documentation demonstrating that you meet the requirements outlined in the "English Proficiency" section.

List Of Required Documents

All applicants are expected to provide the following:

  • An application form that has been filled out and submitted online;
  • If a candidate presents credentials from an unrecognized university or if the Admissions Committee requires more investigation, they must provide the following:
  • An appraisal of their credentials from a credible agency proving equivalence;
  • Included: a certified copy of one's high school transcript;
  • An official document demonstrating English competence (if required);
  • Copies of official transcripts from any colleges and universities attended;
  • If transcripts are not in English, the applicant must provide a certified English translation from a qualified translator on official letterhead.

Authorized Readings

Candidates to University Canada West are expected to provide authentic transcripts from all secondary and higher education institutions attended.

A transcript is considered official if it meets all of the following criteria:

  • Bearing the official signature and seal of the relevant institution; and
  • Has arrived at the University of Canada–West Registrar's Office by direct delivery from the issuing institution.
  • Is printed on letterhead or official transcript paper from the university;

There can be no tampering with the contents of the envelope. All schools attended, even those from which a student withdrew, must be represented on an official transcript.

Requirements To Admit To Graduate Program

Prospective MBA students may meet the following criteria for acceptance into the program:

  • Submission of an IELTS score of 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in the writing band) or equivalent (TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, etc.) if English is not your first language OR completion of the University Access Program (UAP) at UCW with a GPA of at least 70%.
  • The criteria for a satisfactory score on the English International Language Testing System (IELTS) or its equivalent is removed if the applicant can show that English is their first language and that they have a degree from an accredited university in an English-speaking country.
  • Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.33 scale) OR have completed the UCW MBA Foundation (MBAF) with a 3.00 or higher GPA.

Preparatory courses are available for students who do not yet meet the academic, professional, or English language prerequisites for admittance into the Bachelor's or Master's in Business Administration program at University Canada West.

University Canada West requires all candidates to demonstrate their academic English language ability by one of the following means since English is the medium of teaching there.
