216 Immigration Candidates in the New BC PNP Draw

The new BC PNP draw invites 216 immigration candidates. Eight of these are Entrepreneurs and the remaining 208 from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams.

This BC PNP draw was held on 02 February 2021.

Skilled Workers & International Graduates

The province’s Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration categories selected 208 Skilled Workers and International Graduate candidates for provincial nomination. 

The cutoff CRS score required for selected candidates varied by category.

IRCC’s Express Entry System

The selected candidates had already submitted their profiles through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Express Entry system.

Successful applicants will receive an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points into their Express Entry profile.

It will virtually guarantee that they would receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence under IRCC’s Express Entry system.

Impact of Coronavirus

The government of British Columbia indicated that the coronavirus had impacted on the results of the draw. There were several sales and service occupations excluded from this round. B.C. holds these draws every week.

BC PNP so far has issued 740 ITAs to candidates this year.

Skills Immigration Streams

It is a pathway to permanent residence in British Columbia for eligible foreign workers having a job offer in the province.

Of the five categories under the Skills Immigration stream, four are aligned with the Express Entry system.

Skilled Workers

This category is for people having a job offer alongside many years of work experience in the listed occupations.

Healthcare Professionals

It is for nurses, psychiatric nurses, physicians, and allied healthcare professionals with job offers.

International Graduates

This category is for workers graduating from an eligible Canadian college or university within the last 3 years.

International Postgraduates

It is a category for Master’s or PhD graduates from eligible B.C. post-secondary institutions in the natural, applied, or healthcare sciences.

 

Entrepreneur Stream

Entrepreneur stream candidates were also invited for the first time in two months in this BC PNP draw. Eight entrepreneurs wishing to start their own business in B.C. or willing to take over one were welcomed to apply.

Assessment criteria for them include their education, business experience, business plan, net worth, and the amount of money they are willing to invest.

Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS)

Interested candidates for the Skills Immigration or BC-aligned Express Entry must create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal. They should then register under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

All registered candidates are evaluated and issued a score. Factors like education, work experience, English proficiency and location of employment are taken into consideration.
