Australia MATES Immigration for Indians will be effective on November 1

On May 14, 2024, the Australian Federal Budget Document announced MATES programs for Indians. Mobility Arrangements for Talented Early Professionals Schemes will create new pathways for Indians and give 3,000 graduates and early career professionals a chance to work overseas. The MATES Migration schemes will come into effect on November 1, 2024.

Under MATES migration schemes, Indian graduates and career professionals get access early. People aged between 18 and 30 can avail of this scheme. Australia offers a specific field of study through the MATES Program. With the best knowledge and skills, professionals get temporary mobility pathways. People can live and work in Australia for up to two years.

MATES allows applications of Indians who meet specific criteria. The applicants must be 30 years of age or younger. The applicant might only take part in MATES programs after. The participants must be proficient in the English Language. They must appear in IELTS with a secured score of 6.

Additionally, the participants must graduate from recognized institutions and apply within two years of graduation. The candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in their chosen field of study.

MATES Migration program offers some facilities to Indians. The applicant does not need to be sponsored by an Australian employer. The schemes grant permits for residency and work in Australia for two years. However, the visa holders are not compelled to work in their selective field of study. MATES has been introduced to assist young professionals in expanding their skill sets. This scheme will introduce professional networks, particularly in specific sectors. The Australian Government has launched this pilot program that offers 3,000 applicants per year.

The MATES Immigration program allows participants to bring their dependents, which might be their spouses or dependent children. These dependents are allowed to work in Australia as well. However, they will not count towards the annual cap of this migration program. The MATES migration program guarantees a stay of up to 12 months initially. The participant can stay up to 24 months from the first day of their entry into Australia. The visa permits multiple entries into the country.

Participants wishing to extend their stay can apply for different visas, such as temporary or permanent resident visas. However, people can only participate once in the MATES Migration Program.

The visa will include both a pre-application charge and an application charge. Both prices will be indexed in the future as a consumer price index.

In the MATES Immigration Program, dependent family members might be charged an additional fee. The applicants are responsible for managing the application and other costs.

This is a segment of the Australia-India migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement, which was signed on May 23, 2023. The MMPA has elongated the validity of business visas for Indians up to five years. Earlier, the validity of business visas for Indian citizens was three years.

The MATES Immigration Program is going to accept applications in late 2024.
