Canada Invites 3,500 Healthcare Professionals Through Express Entry

Another round of invitations held under the Express Entry system. The latest EE draw is the second to be held within 2 days.

On February 14, 2024, Canada held the year’s first Express Entry category-based draw for healthcare professionals. Express Entry Draw #284 had 3,500 invitations to apply sent out. The minimum ranking score targeted was that of CRS 422. A tie-breaking rule of January 30, 2024 at 02:39:54 UTC was applied.

Who was invited in Express Entry draw number 284?

Every draw under the Express Entry system has a specific criteria laid down by the Canadian government. The criteria is announced at the time of the draw.

Express Entry invitations in the latest round went to candidates who -

  1. Were eligible for any Express Entry program (FSWP, FSTP, or CEC),
  2. Had a minimum score of 422 on the Comprehensive Ranking System,
  3. Possessed work experience in any of the 35 healthcare occupations, and
  4. Had created their Express Entry profile before the tie-break applied.

How much experience is needed for healthcare occupations category-based EE selection?

To be eligible, your work experience in a healthcare occupation must be -

  • In any 1 of the 35 healthcare occupations,
  • Within the last 3 years,
  • Continuous,
  • For at least 6 months, and
  • Full-time or equivalent in part-time,

Note that during the period of the work experience, you must have performed a substantial number of the “main duties” for that occupation as in Canada’s NOC. Additionally, all of the essential duties must have been performed by you.

Moreover, the actions done by you must be according to the lead statement for that particular occupation as in the occupational description in NOC of Canada.

Category-based selection makes it easier for certain professionals to receive an invitation to apply under Canadian Express Entry.
