The second draw of the month held by IRCC. With the latest round of invitations, a total of 9,100 ITAs issued under the Express Entry System in June 2023.

On June 27, 2023, Canada invited another 4,300 to apply for Canadian permanent residence through the Express Entry system. Invitations to apply (ITAs) are issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on behalf of the federal government of Canada.

●        Total draws: 15

●        Total ITAs: 59,048

A tie-breaking rule of June 21, 2023 00:57:04 UTC was applied. IRCC applies a tie-break so that profiles created at an earlier date are prioritized over those entered in the Express Entry pool later.

Based on the tie-break in Express Entry Draw #251, those invited must have had a minimum CRS 486 score and created their profile before the date and time in the tie-break. They must also be among the top 4,300 in the general ranking.

As of June 27, 2023, there were a total of 220,003 profiles in the IRCC Express Entry pool. Of these around 58,503 were in the CRS 451+ range -

  • CRS 451 to CRS 500: 55,991
  • CRS 501 to CRS 600: 1,258
  • CRS 601 to CRS 1,200: 1,254

A good CRS score is important to ensure that an invitation to apply is received. You can only submit your complete Canadian permanent residence application under Express Entry after you get an ITA from IRCC.

Top 3 ways to increase CRS score for Express Entry

There are ways to improve your CRS scores to receive an invitation to apply for a Canada PR visa under Express Entry. The top 3 ways are -

(1) Securing a nomination

A nomination by a provincial or territorial government can get you CRS 600 points in itself. Under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), provinces and territories of Canada can nominate candidates who they find to have the most potential of settling successfully in their province/territory. Quebec province and Nunavut territory are not a part of Canadian PNP.

To claim CRS 600 points for a PNP nomination, the candidate must have secured a Nomination Certificate. There are around 80 Canadian immigration pathways under PNP. Some of the PNP pathways are linked with Express Entry, such as -

(2) Job offer in Canada

Arranged employment in Canada can get you up to CRS 200 points under “D. Additional Points” CRS criteria. A Canadian job offer can get you the following CRS points -

  • CRS 200, if job is in a Senior Management role, that is, TEER 0 Major Group 00 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC)
  • CRS 50: if job is in NOC TEER 1, TEER 2, TEER 3, or any TEER 0 except Major Group 00

Keep in mind that you can claim a maximum of CRS 600 additional points. Hence, if you have a PNP Nomination as well as a job offer, you can get a total of CRS 600 under additional points, and not combine the two for CRS 800.

(3) IELTS Score

Language proficiency can get you a maximum of CRS 160 points -

  • First official language: without spouse/partner, maximum 136 points
  • First official language: with spouse/partner, maximum 128 points
  • Second official language: without spouse/partner, maximum 24 points
  • Second official language: with spouse/partner, maximum 22 points

Not all Express Entry profiles get invited. The higher your rank in the EE pool, the better your chances of being invited.

The right advice matters. Increase the chances of your receiving an invitation to apply from IRCC with a higher CRS score.
