  • Listening: The IELTS listening test is identical for both academics and general training IELTS. The applicant has to listen to four recordings and then answer 40 questions. It has a time duration of 30 minutes, and the applicant gets 10 minutes extra to record answers on the response sheet.
  • Speaking: The speaking module of the IELTS test is a short test that takes 11-15 minutes on average. This module is also identical for both papers, general training and academics. It assesses the use of spoken English and fluency.

  • Apart from language proficiency, you will be assessed by other criteria such as level of education, age, and work experience.
  • To gain permanent residency through Canada Express Entry, the minimum points is around 439, which was the cutoff on 19th December 2018.
  • Other English tests accepted are the TEF test and CELPIP General.
  • However, to work in Canada, IELTS score requirements overall and for each band may differ. For example, to be a lawyer, a minimum score of 7.0 in each section of the IELTS is required. To be a nurse, you need a minimum overall score of 6.5 and 7.0 for Speaking.
