Canada Invites over 15,000 migrants for Permanent Residence In September

Published on : November 17, 2020

Key Highlights

  • 15,025 new immigrants got Canadian Permanent Residence
  • A total of 143,500 immigrants have migrated to Canada between January to September
  • 4500 candidates are invited through Express Entry Draw
  • 3,000 provincial nominations were issued in October.

According to IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) data, a total of 15,025 new immigrants have entered Canada through immigration. However, this is very low compared to last year's intake that had 35,000 immigrants entering Canada in September 2019.

From the period of January to September, a total of 143500 immigrants have migrated to Canada. It means the country is already sort of 200000 migrants at the end of this year. In 2019, Canada had more than 341000 migrants last year.

In March 2020, Canada's immigration minister Marco Mendicino announced that Canada focuses on inviting 341000 migrants by the end of 2020. However, this pandemic has adversely affected the immigration process of Canada, which in turn making the country fall short of reaching its immigration target for 2020.

In October, Mendicino said that under the new 2021-2023 immigration plan, the country is ready to invite more than 410,000 immigrants per year, making history in Canadian immigration.

Here is the 2021-2023 immigration plan:

To achieve this target of more than 410,000 immigrants, IRCC has been conducting Express Entry Draw bi-weekly. In a recent Express Entry Draw, a total of 4500 candidates were invited to apply for a Canadian PR.

Last week, on November 12th, through the Provincial Nomination Program, Ontario has invited 443 Express Entry Candidates. Through PNP, Canada's provinces have already issued nearly 3000 nominations in October.

Even in this pandemic, Canada is all set to continue its Express Entry Draws and invite migrants. It has already set a target of more than 4, 10,000 migrants by the year 2023. It is good news for candidates who can now migrate to Canada through Express Entry Pool, Provincial Nomination Program, and other immigration programs.
