The new global points-based UK immigration system is open. It awards points for your skills, having a job offer and for speaking English.

December 1 is a bright day for skilled workers around the world looking to immigrate to the UK. Applications are now being accepted from candidates to work in the UK from 1 January 2021.

Skilled Worker Visas are now awarded to applicants who score a minimum of 70 points.

Way Forward for the UK Skilled Worker Visa


The new points-based immigration rules are meant to ensure that businesses can recruit the most highly qualified individuals from around the world. This is expected to drive the UK economy forward and keep the nation at the forefront of innovation.

  • Applications will be accepted online, along with identity proof and documentation.
  • Decisions on applications can be expected within three weeks.
  • The validity period of the visa is up to 5 years and can be extended. 

Other Routes to Immigrate to the UK


There are a number of other ways as well to immigrate to the UK.

  • Global Talent Visa for people showing exceptional talent or exceptional promise.
  • Innovator Visa for people aiming to establish a business in the UK.
  • Start-Up Visa for people establishing a business in the UK for the first time
  • Intra-Company Transfer Visa for established workers being transferred by the business to work in the UK.

 

The Student route opened on 5 October 2020. This enables international students from across the globe to come to the UK for studies.
