Ontario has invited 1,032 PNP candidates at OINP draw of 2022

Published on : January 29, 2022

In 2022, Ontario held its first Express Entry Skilled Trades draw.

Occupations can be recognized as skilled trades by checking their classification within the National Occupational Classification (NOC) database. The following are considered for Express Entry Skilled Trades:

  • All jobs within NOC of subgroup 633 (first three digits of NOC code)
  • All tasks in NOC size groups 72, 73 or 82 (first two digits of NOC code)

Ontario has invited 1,032 Express Entry candidates to run for the province on January 27.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) invites candidates to nominate for the province through the Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream.

To be invited, candidates need a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 381 and 461. Ontario invites candidates who submit their profiles between January 27, 2021, and January 27, 2022, for Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream in Ontario

In Canada, the federal government provides each province with a number of nominations that they can issue. These nominations support the immigration applications that all must go through the federal government. Provincial nominations inform the federal government that this application will assist in supporting provincial and territorial goals for economic and population growth. Last year, Ontario's Immigration Secretary Monte McNaughton called on the federal government to double the province's allocations to immigrants to support unemployment.

Ontario is among most Canadian provinces and territories, except for Quebec and Nunavut, which participate in the Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). The PNP allows provincial governments to create immigration programs for people with a specific ability, regional ties, work or study experience, or create business and investment opportunities to improve the labour market.

Ontario's Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream

Ontario Skilled Workers are aligned with the Federal Express Entry system. To be considered, an applicant must have an active Express Entry profile in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program. Since applicants must have an active Express Entry profile in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the minimum requirements are aligned with the requirements for this program.

Ontario's Express Entry-linked Skilled Trades Stream provides permanent residence access for candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Canadian Experience Class. The OINP invites qualified candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

Candidates must live in Ontario with a valid work permit to be eligible. They must also have at least one year of full-time experience, equivalent to part-time work. He must complete this provincial work experience in a skilled trade listed in Subgroup 633 or Major Group 72, 73 or 82 of the Canadian National Classification of Occupations (NOC).
