VETASSESS and the NSDC to Work on Workforce Mobility Plan for Qualified Indians

Published on : May 27, 2024

In collaboration with VETASSESS and the NSDC, a workforce mobility plan to be developed for qualified Indians.

VETASSESS and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) jointly proposed a plan. It will provide a better opportunity for a skilled workforce from India. Australia wants to fill the labor shortage, including institutional strengthening in India. The proposed program will help skilled workers from India with smoother migration procedures. The workforce mobility plan has been introduced to fill jobs under Australian Industry Labour Agreements.

Australia is facing a labor shortage, and the two countries jointly developed a plan to impact both countries. It will widen the scope of skilled workers from India who have always dreamed of working overseas. Australia has marked priority areas for skilled labor requirements. Australia urgently needs Hospitality, Automotive, Agriculture, and Aged care workers.

VETASSESS has realized India is full of highly skilled and qualified workforce. Australia is offering them to gain work experience in Australia. The NSDC will single out organizations that can supply skilled workers. The councils can groom the workers through gap training, English language training, and primary skill assessment. VETASSESS is also eager to assist Indian workers in polishing their skills and can provide certification.

VETASSESS will join hands with industry bodies to point out demands for workers. It will pick out employees who can sponsor workers from India per the job role. VETASSESS and the NSDC will look after the entire recruitment process, including visas and orientation. It will get priority in departure and is all included in this program.

The Australian government hopes this program will bring employers, trainers, and skilled workers together.

VETASSESS Executive Director Rob Thomason stated that the hospitality, Automotive, Agriculture, and Aged care industries do not have enough skilled workers.

He also quoted that India has a large number of highly qualified and skilled laborers who are seeking opportunities to work abroad. VETASSESS and NSDC will provide a chance to gather work experience, serve, and get better remuneration. Rob Thomason ensures that this program will help the arriving workers adapt to Australian workplace culture.

VETASSESS and the NSDC have agreed on side-by-side qualifications for Australia and India. These will be judged using two different parameters. A tally has occurred between the -

  • Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) and
  • Indian National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).

Rob Thomason said it will boost confidence among Australian employers and the industry. The authority believes this benchmarking process can quickly identify the gaps. It will guide them in arranging appropriate training programs, which will help Indian workers feel confident. Understanding Australian employers' demands and fulfilling their expectations is essential.
