Canada's North Bay Launches its RNIP Stream

October 27th, 2020: A community in Northern Ontario, North Bay, has launched its Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) stream on October 21. It is now the eleventh Canadian community out of 12 to start an RNIP program. 

What is the RNIP?

It is an initiative started by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to collaborate with different communities outside Canada to get immigrants who will contribute their best to each community and will fill job vacancies.

Eligibility for RNIP immigration stream


  •         Minimum one year of experience in last three years
  •         Should know minimum language levels of English or French
  •         A high School Degree
  •         Should support yourself and your family members
  •         A full- time, permanent job offer in the community

The job must be at same skill level or above or below the National Occupational Classification (NOC)

The RNIP is a new initiative of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to partner with communities outside of Canada’s main population centres to attract immigrants who will best contribute to each community.

North Bay, Ontario, is now the eleventh Canadian community to unveil the RNIP program criteria. Its diverse economy includes mining, tourism, education, forestry and manufacturing business.  

North Bay hosts many film and TV productions every year. Apart from that, North Bay is also well known for its post secondary educational institutions.
